Manipur governor La Ganesan on August 14 said that Assam Rifles had won the hearts of the citizens of the Northeast for its commitment to duty and service.
The governor gave a speech at the Assam Rifles Investiture Ceremony at the Raj Bhavan in Imphal, where he also awarded 51 officers and jawans of the paramilitary force with gold and silver medals for 2021 and 2022.
The governor praised the Assam Rifles for their outstanding work in several domains, not only security.
He spoke about the force’s involvement in the two World Wars and how crucial they were to counterinsurgency efforts, preserving law and order, and responding to natural calamities.

“Assam Rifles has been recognised for the troopers’ commitment, honesty, accomplishment and most significantly for the sacrifices given by the gallant officers and jawans (troopers),” he remarked, praising the troopers’ service in the Northeast states.
Major General Rajan Sharawat, inspector general of the Assam Rifles (South), said that the force has made significant contributions to various areas of national life.
