A massive fire, causing a loss of crores, broke out at a Benelli and Isuzu showrooms near Basistha in Assam’s Guwahati on September 7.
Police said that there was no report of injury or loss of life.
“Isuzu cars worth at least Rs 1.5 crore burnt, while Benelli bikes worth Rs 6-7 lakh were burnt. Totalling with the property loss, we hit a Rs 4-5 crore loss,” said a sales executive manager at the car showroom.
Located besides NH-27 near Basistha in Guwahati, the showrooms were adjacent and reportedly belonged to the same owner.
As many as eight fire tenders rushed to the site to control the inferno. Reports said that several vehicles which were kept at the back of the showroom were saved.
Officials who were present at the spot said the reason behind the fire is believed to be an electrical short circuit.
