North-East Students’ Organization, Jalandhar elects new executives

The North-East Students’ Organization, Jalandhar, Punjab (NESOJ), held its 7th general election in Phagwara, Punjab recently where it elected new NESOJ executives for the term 2022-2023.

A press release by the newly-elected president Imsanger Jamir and vice president Himan Debbarma on September 16 stated that the meeting was chaired by Subhadip Bhattacharya, member of the nomination committee for NESOJ Punjab and conducted in the presence of Rinlungso Zas, former president of NESOJ; pastor Tiaakum Ozukum, advisor; Pele George Yievinyii, former president of NSUP.

The election was carried out by the election committee.

The newly-elected team led by Imsanger Jamir as president includes: vice president Himan Debbarma, general secretary Abhishek Paul; asst. general secretary Edi Ilang, finance secretary Bianca Fedelia Jyrwa, assistant finance secretary Ziang Zemin S Sangma, cultural secretary Archita Dutta, assistant cultural secretary Gebi Jebisow, sports secretary Tasso Tailyang, assistant sports secretary David Vanlalcrana, women’s secretary V Lalnundiki, media and publicity Kshitij Sharma, literary secretary Binokishor Whengham, information and database Rozal Chettri, assistant information and database Phurilatpam Legyan Sharma.

The newly-elected president, in his speech, vowed that all opinions will be given priority during his leadership and emphasised on working towards the welfare of the northeast region with a motive to “preserve the cultural heritage of Northeast states”.

He also spoke about how racial slurs and discrimination will be handled so that people see their integrity, prosperity, and excellence, the release added.
