Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma who is also the chairman of the organising committee of the T20I match between India and South Africa at the ACA Stadium Barsapara in Guwahati has instructed the Kamrup Metro administration and police to take extraordinary measures on traffic movement during the match which is scheduled to be held on October 2.

The match day coincides with Durga Puja, one of the most popular festivals in the city.

Himanta Biswa Sarma recently met the apex council members of Assam Cricket Association and senior officials of the various government departments and agencies at the secretariat regarding laying a good road map for the international match.

The CM instructed the district and police to take special measures to keep Guwahati free from traffic congestion during the match. During the Durga Puja celebrations, the area in and around Barsapara remains thronged with the puja revellers.

Himanta Biswa Sarma also instructed the administration to work on the areas, which help the players and the spectators for hassle-free travel.

With several infrastructural projects going on in the city, this might cause traffic movement problems.

The chief minister also instructed the concerned departments to ensure proper and adequate lighting, as well as cleanliness, in and around the ACA Stadium, Barsapara.

Apart from that, the office bearers of the Assam Cricket Association said that they are working round the clock to make it a successful event at Barsapara.
