Police in Manipur’s Imphal East district on October 19 arrested an alleged drug peddler and recovered 142 gram of heroin powder.
A team of police commandos attached with the district police arrested the alleged drug peddler identified as Zarina Begum along with the contraband drugs packed in 10 soap cases.
During a preliminary investigation, the police came to know that she engaged in peddling the illegal drug for the last two months.
Police also said that she used to procure the drugs from a woman in Tengnoupal district and sold the same to another woman in Imphal West district.
She brought the drugs for onward selling to the woman in Imphal West district, the police further alleged.
The arrested woman along with the seized drugs has been handed over to Porompat police station for further legal procedures, the police added.
