Two personnel of the Third India Reserve Battalion (IRB) from Manipur were killed and two others injured when an IRB trooper from Manipur fired towards them in Tukda Gosa village of Gujarat’s Porbandar district.

Manipur Police informed that the IRB personnel from Manipur were deputed for Gujarat elections and after five days of the journey had reached their assigned post on November 26.

Police said a jawan, identified as S Inaocha, fired towards his own colleagues which led to the death of two jawans, identified as Th Thoiba and Kh Jiten. Two others, identified as L Surajit and Ruhitkanta, who sustained bullet wounds were undergoing treatment.

The family members of the jawans were informed, said Manipur Police and the bodies would be brought back to Manipur from Gujarat.
