India Book of Records entry for Guwahati airport employee

Bringing laurels to the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati, Ratul Kumar Jakharia, an employee of Airports Authority of India serving at the Guwahati airport, had set a new record in the India Book of Records to cover 100 kilometre walk in the shortest time.

A press release from the Guwahati airport said that Jakharia has entered the India Book of Records for his 100-km walk attempted on November 7.

“He started his walk at 4.03 am on November 7 from Azara Police Station, reached Boko (Singora) and returned to Azara police Station at 8.38 pm the same day. He covered 100 km in 16 hours and 35 mins. He was 55 years 10 months and 7-day old on the day he set the record,” said the statement released on December 22.

Guwahati airport authorities, in presence of Azara Sports Club, organized a felicitation event on December 22 where Ratul Kumar Jakharia was handed over the certificate received from the India Book of Records by COO, GIAL Snehasis Dutta in presence of members of Azara Sports Club under which he took up the endeavour.
