Cristiano Ronaldo

Cricketer Virat Kohli had a special message for Portugal footballer Cristiano Ronaldo who bowed out of the FIFA World Cup 2022 at Qatar with a 0-1 loss to Morocco in the quarterfinals.

With his dream of winning a world cup for Portugal shattered, an inconsolable Cristiano Ronaldo walked off the pitch after his team’s upset defeat against Morocco in the quarterfinals on December 10.

Virat Kohli on December 12 posted a heartfelt message to the GOAT as he tried to console the top footballer. “No trophy or any title can take anything away from what you’ve done in this sport and for sports fans around the world,” the former India captain wrote on social media.

“No title can explain the impact you’ve had on people and what I and so many around the world feel when we watch you play. That’s a gift from God. A real blessing to a man who plays his heart out every single time and is the epitome of hard work and dedication and a true inspiration for any sportsperson. You are for me the greatest of all time. Cristiano Ronaldo,” Virat Kohli added.

At 37, this could well be Ronaldo’s last world cup appearance and probably a last chance to win the world cup for his country. Ronaldo was part of the Portugal team that won Euro 2016.
