Former Tripura CM Biplab Deb

Unknown miscreants attacked the parental house of former Tripura chief minister and Rajya Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb at Jamjuri of Udaipur in Gomti district on January 3 night.

Biplab Deb said the annual ritual of the departed soul of his father Hirudhan Deb is scheduled on January 4 and a number of saints and priests assembled in the house for preparation along with his relatives when the attack happened.

He alleged that several vehicles and two-wheelers were ransacked by the miscreants who pelted bricks in the house. Deb added that “luckily nobody was injured”.

A large number of police personnel launched a search in the area, but no one was arrested yet.

Biplab Deb’s associates complained that the local CPM MLA and former minister Ratan Bhowmik had rounds of meeting with left cadres till the evening on January 3 following which the attack was carried out.

However, Bhowmik denied the charge and said if police investigate the matter properly who were behind the plot of attack would come out. “CPM never indulge in such nefarious acts,” he added.
