Shah Alam Talukdar

In yet another case of police encounter in Assam, a murder accused was killed by the cops near Sonapur on the outskirts of Guwahati city, early morning on February 18.

Prime accused in Guwahati businessman Ranjit Bora murder case, Shah Alam Talukdar was allegedly killed in an encounter near Sonapur. Earlier on February 16 night, police said that Talukdar escaped custody while he was being taken to the Botahghuli area in Guwahati by the Satgaon police for conducting a search operation.

According to the police, the accused was in handcuffs when he escaped from custody.

Earlier, the accused Shah Alam Talukdar tied to hurt himself while being in police custody. However, police at that time said that Talukdar tried to hurt himself only to gain sympathy and be taken to a hospital.

“Dreaded criminal Shah Alam Talukdar under police remand for murder of Ranjit Bora, and also involved in various dacoity cases, faked suicide inside police station toilet to save himself from interrogation and police remand,” said ADCP Moitry Deka.

Shah Alam Talukdar was the prime accused in the daylight murder of Guwahati businessman Ranjit Bora who was killed by bike-borne assailants on November 21. Bora, who was a milk products distributor, was killed near Panjabari area where he was headed to a bank.
