Sikkim chief minister PS Tamang on March 22 gave away letters of sanction worth Rs 1.62 crore for various projects to nine beneficiaries who had applied to National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) at a programme in Gangtok.

NABARD, led by general manager Sikkim, Sanjay Gupta hosted a credit seminar in association with Sikkim Milk Union and Banks.

CM Tamang released the State Focus Paper 2023-24 during the seminar. The SFP prepared by NABARD amounting to an estimated Rs 958.565 crore for credit flow was appreciated by CM Tamang as contribution towards developmental activities in Sikkim.

The SFP also includes Rs 370.66 crore for farm credit, infrastructure and agri-ancillary activities.

The chief minister, during the programme, instructed the loan beneficiaries to manage their finances effectively, spend their money wisely, and make timely repayments on loans, emphasizing the importance of responsible financial management.

“The finances should be managed and money spent properly. Loans should be repaid in time,” the chief minister said to the beneficiaries.

Tamang also urged the banks to make the process of loans simpler. He asked the concerned to sensitize the rural people on relevant issues in their interest.

Chief secretary to Government of Sikkim, VB Pathak, was also present in the credit seminar.
