The 69th Bordoloi Trophy final held on April 4 was a thrilling and memorable event for football fans. Attendees were treated to an excellent display of football, which showcased the rapid progress of Indian football over the years.

Former Indian footballer and winner of the 1996 Bordoloi Trophy, Kalyan Chaubey, who is currently serving as the president of the All India Football Federation (AIFF), expressed his delight in attending the final. In a tweet, he shared his fond memories of lifting the coveted trophy in 1996 and praised the teams for putting up a top-notch performance.

“The title clash was a top show, a testimony to the rapid progress of Indian football,” Chaubey tweeted.

The Bordoloi Trophy is an annual football tournament held in Guwahati and other places in Assam and is one of the oldest and most prestigious football competitions in India. The tournament features teams from various states and clubs nationwide, providing a platform for young and upcoming players to showcase their skills and potential. Teams from Iran, Thailand, Nepal, Bangladesh and others countries also participated in the past.

The 69th edition of the tournament saw fierce competition among the teams, and the final match was a perfect culmination of excitement and anticipation. Fans who had gathered in large numbers were treated to an entertaining match that kept them on the edge of their seats until the very end.

OIL FC won their fifth Bordoloi Trophy title defeating United Chirangduar FC 3-1 in the final played at the Nehru Stadium in Guwahati.

The AIFF has been actively promoting football in India and has been making efforts to improve the infrastructure and support systems for the sport.
