ANI Photo | 160 held in Assam for involvement in fake gold, currency rackets

The Assam Police has conducted extensive operations against fake gold and currency notes smuggling rackets, resulting in the arrest of 160 individuals thus far. These operations commenced on May 15 and are ongoing, as per the Assam Police.

Among the arrested individuals, 63 were apprehended in Lakhimpur district, 45 in Sonitpur district, 3 in Guwahati, 6 in Kamrup, 4 in Barpeta, 8 in Nagaon, 1 in Darrang, 3 in Hojai, 1 in Tamulpur, 2 in Golaghat, 11 in Morigaon, 2 in Bongaigaon, 10 in Biswanath, and 1 in Chirang district, according to a release by the Assam Police.

During these operations, the police seized a substantial quantity of fake gold, Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN), as well as laptops, computers, and other items possessed by the arrested individuals. The Assam Police continues its dedicated efforts to combat these illicit activities and ensure the security and well-being of the citizens.
