Security forces in Manipur are currently conducting search operations in the Sugnu-Serou area after an exchange of fire with insurgents on the night of June 5-6. Army officials have reported that there are indications of casualties among the insurgents, although verification is still ongoing. During the initial search, security forces recovered two AK series rifles, one 51mm mortar, two carbines, ammunition, and warlike stores from the general area.

To strengthen the ongoing area domination operations, ambushes, and measures to prevent arson and violence, an additional seven columns comprising five Assam Rifles and two Border Security Force (BSF) units have been redeployed in the area. The army stated that operations to sanitize the area are currently in progress.

Earlier, in the firing between security forces and a group of insurgents in Serou, Manipur, a Border Security Force (BSF) jawan named Ct/GD Ranjit Yadav sustained fatal injuries, while two Assam Rifles personnel sustained gunshot wounds. The injured personnel were immediately evacuated, but unfortunately, Ct/GD Ranjit Yadav was declared dead at Jivan Hospital in Kakching.

In response to the recent crisis in Manipur, the Indian Army, along with Assam Rifles, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), and the police, initiated extensive area domination operations in the region.
