Gaurav Gogoi, Congress MP and part of the visiting delegation, urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit the northeastern state to witness the situation firsthand.

Since the start of the monsoon session of parliament on July 20, opposition MPs from the I.N.D.I.A. alliance have been seeking a comprehensive discussion and a statement from Prime Minister Modi regarding the Manipur issue. The government, on the other hand, has expressed its readiness to hold a discussion on the matter.

Notably, Manipur has been witnessing an ethnic conflict since May 3.
