Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan participated in Janmashtami celebrations at his residence here in the state capital Bhopal, on Thursday night. 
The Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister was also seen joining the artists as they performed on stage. He was seen swinging his arms and moving in circles at the dancers’ insistence for a brief period.

“In the ‘Shri Krishna Janmashtami Festival’ organized at the residence, wished for the auspiciousness and welfare of the world by worshiping with dignified colleagues. Kanhaiya should continue to delight the devotees with his pastimes, this is my wish, Hail Kanhaiyalal,” Shivraj Singh Chouhan said in a post on ‘X’. 
Later, CM Chouhan also participated in Dahi Handi on the occasion of Janmashtami.

Earlier in the day, CM also worshipped Lord Krishna at his residence and fed cows.

“On the auspicious occasion of Krishna Janmashtami, the birth anniversary of the Lord was celebrated by worshiping at the residence. Lord, bless everyone. Happy Janmashtami to all! Long live Shri Krishna!” Chouhan said in a post on X, wishing everyone on the occasion of Janmashtami. 
Devotees celebrated the festival of Lord Krishna’s birth anniversary, with pomp, fanfare and fervour across the country. They offered prayers to Krishna Janmabhoomi temple in Mathura and observed the Mangala aarti on Thursday morning.
ISKCON temple witnessed colourful celebrations in Noida, as the idols of Radha Krishna were decorated with flower petals and leaves, and people flocked to have a glimpse of the morning aarti. 
Janmashtami is being celebrated on September 6 and 7 across the country. To celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna, devotees observe fast and decorate temples and their homes, with flowers, diyas and lights.
As per the Hindu calendar, Lord Krishna, an avatar of Lord Vishnu, was born on the eighth day of the month of Bhadra. The day mostly falls in the months of August or September as per the Western calendar
