Multiple flights got delayed in landing at Imphal International Airport on Sunday after an unidentified object reportedly found hovering above the airspace of the airport.

The hovering of the unidentified object, suspected to be Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), was found persistently in the airspace of the airport this afternoon, sources said.

Consequently, many flights due to land at the airport were instructed to hold overhead until a clearance from security agencies – CISF and SP Imphal West.

A flight from Kolkata to Imphal due to land at the airport was later diverted to Guwahati airport after around 25 minutes of hold overhead, the sources added.

At the same time, departures of three flights were also delayed, the sources further added.
