ANI Photo | “They have stooped so low…” BJP leader Jairam Thakur slams Congress over deceitful tactics

Former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh and current Leader of Opposition, Jairam Thakur, launched a scathing critique against the governance of the state and the Congress party, accusing them of employing underhanded tactics against BJP members.
Thakur on Sunday condemned what he described as targeted harassment of BJP candidates and leaders.
“When our (BJP) party candidates go to a hotel to have tea, that place is raided. If I stay at a hotel in Dalhousie, after 4-5 days, a raid happens there. A party leader from my constituency, because he was a BJP leader his shop has been raided…they (Congress) have stooped so low,” Thakur said during his visit to Mandi.
Earlier on May 26, Launching a scathing attack against the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, he said, “The Sukhu government is an anti-employee government. Today the issues related to employees are not being resolved. When the BJP was in government, we implemented the recommendations of the Pay Commission which were pending since the time of the Congress government. Employees were also paid other dues including dearness allowance from time to time. We reduced the contract period from three years to two years. Be it medical bills or other bills, everything was done on time. But this government has stopped all the work. The employees are just being harassed.”
Criticising the Sukhu government further he said that the contract period which we had reduced to two years, is now being extended to three years by the government by entangling it in papers. The medical bills of pensioners are not being paid. Himcare is closed, and Sahara is closed. Youths have been thrown out of jobs. In the coming time, the people of the state and the Congress people will answer for their actions.
Notably, polling in Himachal is scheduled for June 1. It will not only pit candidates vying for Lok Sabha membership from four seats but also elect members for six assembly seats that fell vacant following the resignation and switchover of dissident Congress lawmakers.
One of the most watched seats is Mandi where BJP’s Kangana Ranaut is pitted against Congress’ Vikramaditya Singh. The Mandi constituency holds symbolic significance for the Congress, as it is considered a bastion of the Virbhadra family. The seat is currently held by Pratibha Devi Singh, the late leader’s widow. She wrested the seat for the Congress in the bye-election that was held following the demise of then-BJP MP Ram Swaroop Sharma.
The BJP, which won all four Lok Sabha constituencies in the state in the 2019 elections, is eyeing an encore this time
