Manipur on July 6 reported 24 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of active cases in the state to 656.

The Northeast state has reported as many as 1390 cases with 734 of them released from the COVID Care Centres after they recovered from the disease.

In the last 24 hours, 17 males and 7 females were confirmed as new COVID-19 cases at VRDLs of RIMS and JNIMS in Imphal.

The patients belong to Imphal East, Jiribam and Senapati districts. They were being shifted to COVID Care facilities.

Officials informed that all necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing were in place.

In the last 24 hours, 45 persons were discharged from COVID Care Centres of Meitram and Tamenglong Higher Secondary School and COVID Care facilities of RIMS and JNIMS after they were found COVID-19 free on RT-PCR tests.

In the evening on July 5, a seven-year-old girl was found COVID-19 positive. She returned from Delhi on June 22 with her parents.

On June 28, the parents of the minor were found positive and the girl was negative. The parents were shifted to JNIMS and she was put under home quarantine at Thangmeiband.

She was now shifted to CCF, JNIMS according to Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, Additional Director and Spokesperson Health department.
