24 heroes felicitated at 1st Northeast Unsung Heroes Awards

The maiden edition of the Northeast Unsung Heroes Red Carpet Social Awards 2019 celebrated the contributions of 24 unsung heroes from across the eight Northeast states at a gala award ceremony in Mumbai on November 15.

The award ceremony 1st Northeast Unsung Heroes Red Carpet Social Awards 2019 held in Mumbai in the presence of Maharashtra governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari gave away the awards to the select 24 heroes whose contributions to the society were lauded by a packed audience. All resident commissioners of Northeast states also participated in the event.

Speaking on the first edition of the awards, founder of Northeast Unsung Heroes Red Carpet Social Awards, Rebecca Changkija Sema said, “On behalf of my entire team, I would like to thank everyone for pouring so much love. People think that since I am from Northeast India so people won’t take me seriously but let me tell you that I have got so much love in Maharashtra. We have 65 nominations among five categories from different walks of life and it has been a tough time for the jury to choose the awardees.”

The award was initiated by Find Studios and SEIL in association with UFO with presenting partner Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) supported by Mumbai Dabbawala Association and institute partner Mumbai University and IIM Shillong. The News Mill was also one of the partners of the event.

Co-organiser, Jutikaa Mahanta said, “This is a great initiative towards national integration. It is our duty to do something substantial for our community back in Northeast”.

CEO and MD at BSE, Ashish Kumar Chauhan and ABVP’s national organising secretary Sunil Ambekar also took part in the award ceremony.
