Thirty-eight persons, mostly civilians, tested positive for COVID-19 in Meghalaya on August 9, taking the total number of active cases in the state to 605.

Director of Health Services Aman War said that out of the 38 new cases, 18 were detected from East Khasi Hills district. Another 20 cases that includes 13 civilians and seven armed forces, were detected in Ri-Bhoi district.

“There were 27 more recoveries till this morning, taking the overall number of recoveries in the state to 450,” he informed.

East Khasi Hills is the most affected district in the state with 446 active cases, which include 117 BSF troopers, 68 from armed forces and 261 civilians.

Meghalaya has registered 1,053 COVID-19 positive cases, which include 605 active cases, six deaths and 450 recoveries so far.

Meghalaya High Court to close for sanitization

The High Court of Meghalaya, Shillong will remain closed for three days from August 10-12 in order to fully sanitize the court premises.

“All matters listed before the virtual courts on the said dates stands deferred to August 13,” a circular issued by the Registrar General of the HC said.
