4 killed, 21 injured as vehicle overturns in Tripura

Four persons, including three women, were killed and 21 others were injured in a road accident at Chellagang area of Amarpur in Gomati district of Tripura on March 26 night when a passenger-loaded small vehicle overturned.

The passengers were returning from an ADC election rally of the ruling BJP addressed by Tripura chief minister Biplab Deb in Gandacherra.

According to reports, the passengers were travelling in a pickup van. The vehicle overturned on Amarpur- Nutanbazar road.

All the injured persons were immediately shifted to Amarpur sub-divisional hospital in and five of them were shifted to district hospital in critical condition.

The deceased were identified as Urbashikona Jamatia, Gahing Kumar Jamatia, Mamata Rani Jamatia and Ratna Rani Jamatia.

BJP state president Manik Saha expressed grief over the untimely death of the four party supporters and said the party would help their families.

He also urged the Tripura government to extend support to all the victims.
