55 new COVID-19 cases in Assam take total tally to 935

The number of new COVID-19 cases in Assam continued to rise with 55 new cases detected till the evening on May, pushing the overall tally to 935, while the number of discharged patients also saw an increase as 22 patients were released during the day.

Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that out of the new cases, six are travellers, while 16 have been detected from Golaghat and 11 from Kamrup Metro.

Eight cases are from Hojai and six are from Karimganj. Two each has been confirmed from Lakhimpur, Cachar, Hailakandi and Karbi Anglong.

The state has been recording a spike in new cases with over 480 new detections in the last four days, with people returning from outside the state accounting for most cases.

Meanwhile, 22 patients were discharged from different hospitals in the state, taking the number of recovered patients to 125 on May 29.

The number of active cases in the state now stands at 803, while four others have died.
