The 5th Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav, organized by the Union culture ministry, came to an end on March 31. The closing ceremony, organised at Shilpgram by North East Zone Cultural Centre, was attended by Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh Governor PB Acharya.
Renowned Assamese singers Dikshu and Nikhita performed in the evening marking the close of the festival which began in Tawang on March 23. The festival moved to various places in Northeast like Dimapur, Shillong, Majuli and Aizawl before its closing ceremony at Guwahati.
The closing ceremony was attended by Arunachal Pradesh minister for art and culture, Mohesh Chai along with other dignitaries.
Varied art forms like Satriya, Kathak, Kamrupi Lok Geet, Pung Cholam, Nangeli Geet, Bordoishikla dance, Peacock dance, Mukha Bhaona, Karbi dance, Tiwa song and dance, Bhawaiya, Kushan Gaan, Garo dance, Rabha dance, Ojapali, Dhepa Dhol, Nata Sankiratan, Boro dance, Jhumur, Bhortal, Bhangra, Mishing dance, Hajong dance, Lai Haraoba, Dhiyanam, Gayan Bayan, Bihu, Baul songs, Tai Khamti song and dance, Oraon song and dance, Bharatnatyam, Badhai dance, Purulia Chhau, etc. were presented during the closing ceremony of the festival.
Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Pema Khandu along with Arunachal Pradesh minister for art and culture Mohesh Chai, MLA Tsering Tashi, in presence of NEZCC director Om Prakash Bharti inaugurated the festival in Tawang on March 23.
The essential thrust of the nine-day cultural extravaganza – Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav – was to present the rich diversity and uniqueness of Indian culture and bind the country in a single thread of culture. It aimed to promote cultural inter-linkages amongst the people of Northeast.
In the festival, about 5,000 artists from Northeast and 2,000 artists from across the country participated and showcased India’s rich cultural heritage through folk and classical art forms.
The North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), Dimapur was entrusted with the responsibility as the nodal agency to carry forward the execution of the national cultural festival.
