A 60-year-old man had allegedly killed his daughter-in-law following a family quarrel in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district. The incident took place at Diphu in the hill district on Friday evening.

According to reports, the accused person, Manuranjan Malakar, had killed his daughter-in-law identified as 22-year-old Ritamoni Malakar by using sharp weapons at Bagmari Gang quarter area, Diphu.

A top official of Karbi Anglong district police said that, the murder was triggered by a family quarrel and duo was quarreling over household matter.

“When the 60-year-old man got angry, he attacked the lady with a machete multiple times. The lady died on spot,” the police officer said.

After committing the crime, the accused had fled from the area and was still absconding.

Meanwhile, police had recovered the body and sent it for postmortem.
