Assam continued to record increase in new COVID-19 positive cases with 97 new cases detected from across the state on May 28, taking the tally to 880.

While 15 new cases were detected in the morning, 33 more were reported in the afternoon and 25 more in the evening. Late in the night, 24 new cases were reported.

Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed through Twitter regarding the new cases.

Among the new cases, 32 are from Kamrup Metro, 11 each from Goalpara, Cachar and Nagaon, five from Dibrugarh, three each from Nalbari, Dhemaji, Barpeta, Tinsukia and two each from Karimganj, Kokrajhar and Hailakandi.

One each has also been confirmed from Lakhimpur, Hojai, Kamrup, Karbi Anglong, Dhubri and Dima Hasao.

Identity of three of the new patients was yet to be ascertained, as informed by the minister.

The number of active cases now stands at 770, while 103 others were discharged after they recovered from the disease. Assam recorded four have deaths related to COVID-19 complications.
