Fashion, accessories, home décor, bakery, stationery, nail art, make-up – name it and it was all there at the first edition of The Smartisans. The day-long event, held at Hotel Gateway Grandeur on Sunday, was organized by Stoic Marketing Solutions. The Smartisans is a first of its kind initiative to bring together all luxury and lifestyle brands under one roof and help local industries and artisans in the fashion, retail and start-up scenario to build up a market for them by showcasing their product offerings.

Speaking to HeyNortheast, co-founders at Stoic Marketing Solutions, Sajma Parvez and Kaustuv Chowdhury said, “The Smartisans is not just an event, but a platform for networking with likeminded people who are in the business of creating and innovating. It aims to build communities to develop a mutually benefiting Eco-system. The connections established through The Smartisans hopes to create awareness towards the dying art-forms of the State.”

Ruhi Barooah, from the Guwahati based startup Cake Cottage, who participated in The Smartisans, said, “The Smartisans is about making ideas happen, no matter how big or small they are. Guwahati is thriving with lifestyle, fashion and food startups and this is an excellent attempt to bring everyone together for the first time.”

Stoic Marketing aims to promote a dying industry in each chapter of The Smartisans to give them a platform to showcase their offerings and generate the necessary awareness amongst the people of Assam. This season, Stoic has taken the initiative to promote the neglected and slowly degrading Sualkuchi weaving industry. For that, they have invited the Harmohan Silk Factory of Sualkuchi as a participant in the exhibition. The founder, Hiralal Kalita, has been in this industry since 1995 and is actively campaigning for the upliftment of the local weaving community.

The event also witnessed a Shop & Win contest for the visitors where one lucky person would win luxury watches from The Time Square. A representative from The Time Square thus said, “The Time Square is proud to associate with The Smartisans and always keen on promoting new and exciting endeavors. The concept of Shop & Win is a fantastic way to entice shoppers and the gift is just our way to extend our support towards The Smartisans.”

Arpita Bordoloi, a homemaker who visited The Smartisans commented, “It was a wonderful experience visiting the exhibition today. It is such a beautiful amalgamation of fashion and lifestyle. I had one of the most satisfying shopping experiences and finding it all under one roof was the cherry on the top. I look forward to more such events in the city.”
