Actor Akshay Kumar will donate Rs 2 crore for the relief and rescue operations during floods in Assam. The popular Bollywood actor has tweeted on Wednesday that he will donate Rs 1 crore each for the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and for the Kaziranga National Park which is reeling under severe flood conditions.

“Absolutely heartbreaking to know about the devastation by floods in Assam. All affected, humans or animals, deserve support in this hour of crisis. I’d like to donate 1 crore each to the CM Relief Fund & for Kaziranga Park rescue. Appealing to all to contribute,” tweeted the actor.

The flood scenario has worsened in the state with the death toll rising up to 17 and more than 45 lakh population has been hit. In the Kaziranga National Park, at least 39 wild animals including five rhinos have died. Officials said that more than 90 per cent of the national park is still under water.

On July 16, star sprinter Hima Das also donated her half month’s salary and appealed everyone for help.
