Mountaineer Anshu Jamsenpa from Arunachal Pradesh unfurled the Indian tricolour atop Mount Everest on Tuesday at 9.15 am (Nepal time) for the fourth time – to set a new record for Indian mountaineers.

Dawa S Lama, managing director at Dream Himalaya Adventure, said that Anshu Jamsenpa along with Furi Sherpa scaled the world’s highest peak, as reported by The Himalayan Times.

A mother of two, the 36-year-old Anshu hailing from Bomdila, a remote town in Arunachal Pradesh, created a mountaineering record by climbing on Mount Everest on May 12 in 2011 and again on May 21 in the same year thus becoming the first mother in the world to summit the world’s highest peak twice in a span of just 10 days. In 2013, Anshu again scaled the Mount Everest.

Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama had flagged off her latest expedition in Guwahati on April 4, during his visit to the region.
