Arunachal celebrates statehood day with 3-day ‘Festival of Arunachal’
Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram are celebrating their statehood day on February 20.
In Arunachal Pradesh, Union home minister Rajnath Singh will attend the 31st statehood day celebrations as Itanagar’s IG Park is decked up for 3-day celebrations starting February 20. The line-up includes food, music and cultural fiesta with top Bollywood names like Sunidhi Chauhan, Sonu Nigam set to perform. Folk fusion Indian Ocean and Arunachal’s latest entry to Indian Idol Jeli Kayi will also perform in the festival.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday greeted the people of Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram on their statehood day.
“Statehood Day greetings to the citizens of Arunachal Pradesh. May the state scale new heights of development,” Modi said in a tweet.
“On their Statehood Day, my greetings to the people of Mizoram. I pray that Mizoram progresses immensely in the years to come,” he said in another tweet.
Meanwhile, Arunachal chief minister Pema Khandu reviewed the preparations for the statehood day celebration on February 19 along with deputy chief minister Chowna Mein and said that the festival will help boost Arunachal’s tourism potential.
Cultural extravaganza, flower & orchid show, laser show, adventure sports including bungee jumping, hot air balloon, and book fair are a part of the celebrations christened as Festival of Arunachal.
Short films, exhibition of local tea products etc are also planned during the festival.
