COVID-19 vaccination

Arunachal Pradesh government on April 23 decided to provide free COVID-19 vaccination to the people of the state between the age group of 18-44 years.

In a cabinet meeting, chaired by chief minister Pema Khandu at Itanagar on April 23, the state government decided to bear the cost of vaccination of the people of the state belonging to the 18-44 years age group.

The cabinet also approved to place an order of 4 lakh Covishield vaccine and to allot an additional amount of Rs 65 crore to vaccinate the persons between the age group of 18-44 years.

“This budget allocation will be above the budget allocation for the health department,” a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office said.

The cabinet also directed the health department to facilitate registration of all people above 18 years in the state, the statement said.

The Assam government has already announced to offer free COVID-19 vaccination for the 18-44 years age group. The central government is giving the vaccine free of cost for all citizens above 45 years of age.
