Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma and Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma during a meeting on July 23, 2021

The meeting between Union home minister Amit Shah and the two chief ministers of Meghalaya and Assam for finalizing the border agreement on the six of the 12 areas of difference has been postponed yet again.

“In fact, we were supposed to meet but then the meeting was postponed again. So, we will wait for the call from the Union home minister,” chief minister Conrad Sangma told journalists in Shillong on February 7.

On being questioned, Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on February 7 said that the meeting will be held soon. “We were supposed to meet the Union home minister but the meeting will not be held today. I have some other issues…” he said.

On January 29, Sangma and Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had finalized the agreement on the first six areas of difference.
