Assam archer Promila Daimary brought laurels to the nation by bagging the gold medal at the recurve event at the Asia Cup World Ranking Archery Tournament, Stage 1, in Bangkok on Wednesday.
Promila defeated Natalia Erdynieva of Russia by 7-3 in the recurve final. Promila Daimary, who has a World
rank of 30, has previously represented India in Hyundai World Archery Champions in Mexico-2017, Berlin 2017 Hyundai Archery World Cup Stage 4 among other international championships.
20-year-old Promila hails from Dahlahabi village of Khagrabari near Bhergaon in Udalguri. She is the second daughter of Obiram Daimari and Renubala Daimari.
The Asia Cup World Ranking Archery Tournament, which started at Bangkok on March 2, will conclude on March 9. India’s Muskan Kirar also clinched gold in compound event. Madhu Vedwan and Gaurav Trambak Lambe also won bronze medals.
