Subimal Bhattacharjee, a defence and cyber security analyst from Assam, has been nominated as one of the editorial board members of the Journal of Cyber Policy of the 100-year-old Chatham House London, one of the most prestigious think-tanks in the world.

The Journal of Cyber Policy is a unique place for scholars and practitioners to address emerging cyber policy challenges, which are growing in scope and urgency as countries around the world are becoming increasingly dependent on digital networks.

“I am extremely happy to be a part of the prestigious editorial board of the Journal of Cyber Policy of Chatham House London, one of the most prestigious think tanks of the world celebrating its centenary this year. It’s an honour and privilege to be serving as an editorial board member with other reputed cyber policy related experts from across the globe. I’m grateful to Patricia Mary Lewis, the chair for the honour,” Bhattacharjee told The News Mill after the development.

He said that it will also be helpful in forming public opinion about cyber security policy research

The fellow board members include David Omand GCB who was formerly the UK Security and Intelligence coordinator and permanent secretary of UK home office, Phillip Howard who is the director of Oxford Internet Institute, Richard Dasher, the director of US-Asia Technology Management Centre of Stanford University, Myriam Dunn Cavelty of Centre for Security Studies in ETH Zurich, Sarah Roberts, associate professor of University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and co-director UCLA Centre for Critical Internet Enquiry among others.

The chair of the board is Patricia Lewis, the director of International Security Programme at Chatham House, London.

“We are delighted to present our 2020-2023 editorial board. Our board represents some of the leading figures in the cyber community who will help guide the strategic vision and future of the journal,” the Twitter handle of the journal said on August 27.

Bhattacharjee, who hails from Haflong in Assam, has also produced several documentaries including the acclaimed ‘Memories of a Forgotten War’ which maps memories into the battles of World War II in the mountains and valleys of Manipur and Nagaland.

Bhattacharjee is also a globally acclaimed cyber issues specialist and has served as a member of the research advisory committee of the global commission on internet governance besides being experts for two UN-led initiatives in the subject.

Bhattacharjee has also been a speaker at all the top think tanks of the world. He holds a postgraduate degree in mathematics from the University of Delhi.
