Dancing doctor of Silchar

A dance video of a doctor on COVID-19 duty at a government hospital in Assam has drawn accolades on the social media, with Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan, on whose song the doctor jigged his legs, also showering praise.

The 1.17-minute video features Dr Arup Senapati of Silchar Medical College and Hospital, dancing to Hrithik’s song from the movie ‘War’, in his PPE kit.

Dr Syed Faizan Ahmad, Senapati’s colleague, had tweeted the video on October 18 and wrote: “Meet my #COVID19 duty colleague Dr Arup Senapati an ENT surgeon at Silchar medical college Assam. Dancing in front of COVID patients to make them happy”.

The video has gathered more than 1.7 million views within 24 hours and even caught the attention of Hrithik.

The ace actor, who is known for his dancing skills, replied to Dr Ahmad’s message on Twitter and wrote: “Tell Dr Arup I’m gonna learn his steps and dance as good as him someday in Assam. Terrific spirit.”

A report in the Indian Express quoted Senapati as saying: “It was the last of the seven days of gruelling duty at the COVID ward. We were to start our mandatory quarantine the next day — my colleagues had already told me that I must dance on the last day of my duty.”
