Assam Excise Dept to produce 1 crore bottles of sanitizers

Assam government has instructed the Excise department to manufacture one crore bottles of hand sanitizers that can be distributed at government fixed rates to help people scare off the COVID 19 pandemic.

State Excise Minister Parimal Suklabaidya has issued necessary directions for manufacture of one crore bottles of 200 ml each.

Five manufacturing units in the state have been authoritised to produce the hand sanitizers in conformity with The Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, and in line with World Health Organisation guidelines.

The step has been taken to ensure that there is no shortage of sanitizers during the 21-day lockdown, which started from March 25.
