Assam government on July 29 has announced relaxation of mandatory quarantine period for people coming from outside the state by four days.

People coming from outside will henceforth have to spend 10 days in quarantine, including institutional or hotel quarantine and home quarantine.

Earlier, the period of mandatory quarantine was 14 days.

The home quarantine for cured COVID-19 patients was also reduced from 14 days to seven days by the government last week.

The overall COVID-19 tally in the state is at 34,947, while 26,618 have recovered so far.

The death toll due to COVID-19, and related complications, is 88.
