The Assam cabinet on November 4 decided to provide one-time financial grant of Rs 15,000 each to temple priests and Namgharias in the state.

During a cabinet meeting, it was decided to provide financial grant of Rs 15,000 each to the temple priests and Namgharias of Namghars (Vaishnavite place of worship) who had faced many difficulties during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Announcing the cabinet decisions, Assam health minister Keshab Mahanta said that, an online portal will be opened for registration, whose details to be advertised later.

“The cabinet approved Assam Migrant Workers’ Food Security Scheme to provide dry ration to COVID-19-affected migrant workers. Under the scheme, migrant workers will get rice, dal, mustard oil and salt. District administrations will distribute dry ration based on data of migrant workers available on e-SHRAM portal and other available resources,” Keshab Mahanta said.

The cabinet also approved the Assam Industrial Relations Rules, 2021 in order to safeguard of employers and employees, pave the way for industrial progress and ensure industrial peace and harmony, MBBS seats reserved for tea garden communities have been increased to 24 and BDS seats to three, conversion of allotment certificate to periodic patta in rural areas within 3 years.
