Assam govt writes to home ministry for CBI inquiry of Lafiqul Islam killing

The Assam government has constituted a special investigation team led by senior IPS officer Anurag Tankhar to undertake a through probe leading to the killing of ABMSU president Lafiqul Islam and corroborate the findings. Chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal also announced that the state government would rope in CBI to unearth the mystery shrouded in the killing.

In a meeting held on Thursday night with ABMSU, AMSU and leaders of Bodo minority cell, chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal announced that a Special Investigation Team would be formed to carry out an exhaustive investigation into the killing of ABMSU president at Kokrajhar on August 1.

The state government also recommended CBI inquiry into the killing and wrote a letter to Union home ministry to that effect.
