Assam reported 20 more deaths due to COVID-19 on January 30, taking the total death toll in the state due to the viral infection to 6442.
The state in the past 24 hours reported 910 fresh cases out of the total 13,100 tests done during the day. There has been a slow decline in the positivity rate which on January 30 was 6.95 per cent.
Kamrup Metro district, which comprises main city of Guwahati, reported 357 fresh cases while two patients died in the district following COVID-19 complications.
In the past 10 days, Kamrup Metro reported 8,227 fresh cases while Jorhat reported 1,902 cases.
As many as 182 patients died in Assam in the past 10 days due to COVID-19 complications. The Kamrup Metro district reported 32 deaths during the period.
The SUTRA mathematical model backed by the Centre to track the progression of the COVID-19 pandemic in India in its latest report has stated that the third wave has peaked in Assam on January 22, five days earlier then the predicted date.
