Eight fresh cases of COVID-19 were detected in Assam on April 1 evening taking the total tally in the state to 13 positive cases.

Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted that 8 fresh cases were detected in the state in the evening after he announced that 4 people were tested positive during the day on April 1. On March 31, one patient admitted at Silchar Medical College and Hospital had tested positive for novel Coronavirus. The total tally thus stands at 13 in the state.

Sarma tweeted that all those who were tested positive in Assam – all 13 of them – had links with the religious conglomeration that was held at Nizamuddin in Delhi.

Including the two tested positive (one each in Mizoram and Manipur) earlier, the total tally in the Northeast now stands at 15.
