Assam Rifles assists in clearing major landslide at Nagaland's Kiphire

Kiphire Battalion of Assam Rifles under Spear Corps assisted the Public Works Department, Pungro in Nagaland from August 18-25 in clearing a major landslide at Pungro-Longkhimong village in Kiphire district of Nagaland.

A major chunk of the landslide fell on the Pungro-Mimi axis near Longkhimong village on August 17 thereby blocking all movement towards the border villages.

Village council of Longkhimong approached Assam Rifles for providing assistance in opening the road as it is their lifeline and its closure would affect the villagers significantly.

The troopers immediately responded and commenced the work with Public Works Department in spite of incessant rain.

With combined efforts of the villagers, Public Works Department Pungro and Assam Rifles, the road was cleared in 7 days. The efforts were appreciated by the locals.
