Assam Rifles jawan killed in ambush in Arunachal

A jawan of the 6th Assam Rifles was killed in an ambush by NSCN (IM) militants in Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh on October 21, a police spokesperson said in Itanagar.

“Today (October 21) at around 7-8 am, a group of NSCN (IM) operatives laid down an ambush against 6th Assam Rifles, at near Sanliam village area (under Lazu circle), Tirap district. One soldier of 6th Assam Rifles achieved martyrdom,” Arunachal Pradesh Police (APP) PRO Hemant Tewari said.

Notably, the militants attacked the patrolling team of Assam Rifles on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day.

Earlier this month, in neighbouring Changlang district, a jawan of Assam Rifles was killed and another was injured in an ambush by militants near Tengmo village under Jairampur sub-division.
