Assam set to export 80 tonnes of lemons to London

Assam is set to export around 80 tonnes of lemons to London which will soon be available in the United Kingdom market. The first consignment of 600 kg lemons left Guwahati for London on July 15.

As a part of the export agreement between Assam and the UK, the state’s much famous lemons of the Baksa district were sent. The district administration processed all the necessary initiatives for this export.

Chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma told reporters that the first consignment of lemons was despatched on July 15.

“About 600 kg of lemons were sent in the first consignment. Nearly 80 tonnes would be supplied over the next two months,” he said.

The consignments first reached Guwahati from Baksa district on July 15. It was despatched to Delhi from where lemons would be sent to London.

Earlier as well lemons from Assam were exported to the London market.
