Arpita Dalal

Assam University research scholar Arpita Dalal has been selected for the 5th BRICS Young Scientist Conclave 2020 scheduled to be held in Russia in September.

Arpita, a research scholar in the department of Ecology and Environment Science, is among the 19 young researchers and one among five ecologists of the country making it to the conclave.

“I am happy to be able to make it to the list of participants and am looking forward to exchanging ideas and share experiences with other researchers at the conclave on aquatic insect ecology and mosquito bio-control which is my core research area,” Arpita was quoted as saying by The Assam Tribune.

Daughter of Babul Dalal and Putul Dalal from Bongaigaon, Arpita is pursuing her PhD under Susmita Gupta at the university.

“I had applied in July, based on my CV and publications. It has been a tough phase of selection done by the government. Out of the 19 seats, six seats were for researchers in artificial intelligence, five for ecology, six seats for material science and two for innovation prize competition,” Arpita further said.

Vice chancellor of the university, Dilip Chandra Nath said that such achievements will inspire other students to do well.

“Arpita has been a hard-working researcher and her efforts have taken her to such a global academic platform like the BRICS Young Scientist Conclave. My congratulations to her and also to the department which is focused on academics and research-oriented activities,” he said.
