Hailing from a poor family in Assam’s Dhubri district, Momina Khatun, was missing since 25 years. She was allegedly abducted by human traffickers from Golakganj area in Dhubri.

Almost 25 years since her whereabouts was unknown, the family members of Momina had reported that she was traced in Pakistan through the use of Facebook.

Family members said that Momina is now staying in Pakistan and she is a mother of three children.

“Recently, Momina’s younger child – 15-year-old Sufiyan – contacted the family members of Momina in Golakganj through Facebook and said that his mother wants to come back to India,” a local villager said.

“Momina Khatun is now a Pakistan national. She was sold by a person in Pakistan 25 years back,” a local villager of Golakganj said.

While Momina wants to return to India, the family in Pakistan is trying hard to procure documents so that they can return to India to reunite with their family.
