At least nine people were killed and 20 others sustained injuries after a passenger bus and traveller collided in Assam’s Sivasagar district on Monday.

The incident took place on National Highway – 37 near Demow area in Sivasagar district, where a bus with 40 passengers on board collided with a passenger vehicle coming from opposite direction.

According to reports, the bus, which was moving towards Dibrugarh from Sivasagar, rammed into a traveller and the traveller vehicle fell into a ditch.

Following the incident, locals and police rushed to the spot and engaged in rescue operations.

At least nine people were killed and 20 others injured in the incident. The injured persons were rushed to nearby hospital.
