The Dr Bhupen Hazarika Cricket Stadium at Barsapara in Guwahati will host a T20 International between India and Australia on October 10. This was confirmed by Assam Cricket Association vice president Devajit Saikia, while talking to The News Mill.

This will be the first international match at the newly-built stadium.

Earlier, reports said that the Barsapara stadium in Guwahati is vying for a Test match – probably a match between India and Sri Lanka.

The Rs 260-crore stadium has already hosted at least 17 Ranji Trophy matches since 2013-14. The 60,000-capacity stadium, with modern technologies, is being regarded as one of the best in the country. The media tribune, with reported capacity of around 250, is touted as the largest in the country. The place also boosts of state-of-the-art broadcast centre.
