Rajya Sabha member from Assam, Biswajit Daimary on November 21 said that he has resigned from the Upper House of parliament.

Daimary had recently exited from the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF), the party he represented in the Rajya Sabha.

Talking to reporters in Guwahati, Daimary said: “Since I have left the BPF, it would not be proper to be a Rajya Sabha member from that party. So, I have sent my resignation to the chairman of the Rajya Sabha.”

He was the lone MP of the BPF, which is a partner of the BJP-led coalition government in Assam.

Media reports said that Daimary is likely to join BJP soon.
