BJP candidate Bijay Malakar on Monday had filed his nomination for the by-election from Ratabari assembly constituency in Assam’s Karimganj district.
Malakar was accompanied by Assam forest minister Parimal Suklabaidya, Assam state BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Dass, BJP MP Kripanath Mallah.
Congress candidate Keshab Prasad Rajak had also filed his nomination for the by-election from Ratabari assembly seat.
The by-elections in the Ratabari (SC), Jania, Rangapara and Sonari assembly constituencies of Assam will be held on October 21.
BJP candidate Rajen Borthakur filed his nomination for Rangapara by-poll on September 30. The BJP candidate was accompanied by Assam finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and MP Pallab Lochan Das.
